Hip Hop / Jazz Combo
Students begin with a center warm up on the floor for stretch and to develop strong feet and ankles, then progress to exercises for finding balance. Students perform across-the-floor movements and leaps for developing smooth weight transferal and foot strength. These classes prepare students to then move into a Broadway and classical style Jazz class or an fun and modern inspired hip-hop class.
Hip-Hop / Jazz I
This BYPC Hip-Hop / Jazz I class introduces students to these two styles of dance. The first half of class begins with a jazz warm-up in the center of the floor and a series of stretches for the entire body. Students perform a series of basic jazz moves designed to develop balance and strength in the feet and ankles. Leaps, runs, and turns taught in the language of jazz and hip-hop are performed across the floor. At this hip-hop / jazz class in our Bedford, NH studio, students learn a series of hip-hop dance and jazz steps taught in a combination. The combinations change weekly and are intended to develop listening skills and provide a fun, exciting challenge.
This multi-faceted, high-energy class is built on the fundamentals of proper conditioning, warm up, and cardio. Students work on individual style, expressiveness, and finding an inner rhythm. Learning the essentials and isolations and the beginning stages of popping, locking, breaking and commercial Hip Hop (as seen on TV) make up the core of this course.
