Circle of Giving
CIRCLE OF GIVING SUMMER PROGRAMS
Learning to dance, jamming in a rock band, writing and filming a movie, playing violin, drums and keyboard, singing in a chorus, listening and dancing to music from years gone by- unique and wonderful experiences for special needs children and senior citizens at Easter Seals, Child Health Services and 21st Century Community Learning Center this summer through BYPC's Circle of Giving. Unforgettable experiences shared with interns Victoria Alvarado, Max Capistran, Jessica Davison, Anna Flanagan, Danny Pascale and Nick Piccola and BYPC faculty Tara Greenblatt and Sarah Smith. We celebrate and thank the foundations and sponsors who, along with our donors, made possible the many programs offered through The Circle of Giving Summer 2008: Berklee College of Music, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Darrell's Music Hall, Elliot Health System, Lincoln Financial Group and The Donna Anne Poulack Foundation.

DONOR RECEPTION HELD AUG. 19th
BYPC's Board of Directors hosted a reception on the evening of Tuesday August 19 at BYPC to recognize and celebrate the many donors who have supported BYPC over the past year. Those in attendance enjoyed jazz music performed by Danny Pascale on keyboard and Eric Farnan on bass, delicious appetizers and desserts donated by Bedford Prime Meats and Extra Touch Gourmet and wine donated by Robert Mondavi vineyards. Royal Bouquet of Bedford donated a beautiful floral centerpiece for our event. It was important to our board members that they have the chance to personally thank those who do and give so much to BYPC- thank you to all who attended!

CK First Day
BYPC Welcomes Students for
 Another Stellar Year!
The studios are abuzz once more with orchestral tune-ups, the mi,me,ma,mo,moos of vocalists warming their voices, the light-footed, but distinctive tip-toe of dancers, the clickety-clack of tap shoes finding a new rhythm, and resident thespians trying on the heart of new characters.  Fall has come to BYPC and with it the vibrancy of the arts makes us all feel more alive and energized.

Company performers were auditioned and chosen in August, as were Apprentice Company kids, both their schedules sure to stretch their talents and provide opportunities to grow as "triple threat" performers.  Kids are already hard at work for their January performance of "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" on the new stage at Bedford High School.  For a full review of the complete line-up, visit www.bypc.org/eventcal.php.

Dance Class

Dancers too will be showcasing their growing skills in ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, acrojazz, and hip hop.  Three levels of ballet classes are now offered at BYPC for the growing talent of our dedicated dance students.  Also, read about Zumba, a new Latin dance exercise class for teens and adults, Click here to get the skinny on how folks are getting skinny shaking it Latin style - click on www.bypc.org/dance-classes.php and scroll through all the dance offerings for children, teens and now adults - dust off those tap shoes!

Some of our youngest students will be lighting up the Christmas season with our 12th Annual Best Christmas Pageant Ever, scheduled for Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6 at Manchester's Derryfield School.  It's not too early to reserve your tickets, as the holidays become busy and you will want a seat for this delightful heartwarming story reminding us about the true meaning of the season.

Families are getting in on the act here at BYPC, participating in an Inter-Generational Family Chorus taught by Kate Richards and Jeff Davison.  Kate and Jeff are coaxing harmonious sounds from kids of all ages on Monday evenings.  It's not too late to join the melee, just bring your singing voices and a desire to make music and memories together.Piano Lesson

A few other new class offerings this fall include Music Makers at the Violin in addition to Music Makers at the Keyboard.  Targeted at the youngest children, ages 4-6 and 5-7, classes concentrate on having fun handling a great instrument; learning proper positioning of violin, bow and fingers while playing well-known melodies.  This class is preparatory for kids entering private instruction, and gives them a chance to try the violin on for size.  The Wednesday or Friday class meets from 3:15 to 4 p.m., and kids can use BYPC's violins.  Music Makers at the Keyboard meets Mondays or Tuesdays 3:15 - 4 p.m.

From budding musicians to the most accomplished, BYPC offers instruction and performance opportunities for all levels of students.  For our most experienced musicians, we introduce Company Ensemble, an audition-only class taught by Jeff Davison and David Couture.  Under their tutelage, students will develop as musicians, performers and artists, with challenging practices designed to expand skills and repertoire and prepare them as future performing musicians.  Master classes as well as opportunities to perform at community and BYPC events will round out the Company Ensemble experience.  Openings are still available for piano, acoustic or electric bass, drums, guitar, trumpet, trombone, tenor and alto sax.  Contact the BYPC office to schedule an audition. For more information about our music programs visit, http://www.bypc.org/music-classes.php.

Dance Explorers Sept 2008

You Say Goodbye, I Say Hello
It's more than a catchy Target song sung by superstar boy band, The Jonas Brothers, it's what happens in life.  People say goodbye, and then others say hello.  Here at BYPC we have had our share of both over the summer, farewelling many beloved instructors and starting afresh in our fall semester with a host of new faces.

Both dance instructor, Julie Smith, and voice teacher, Jennifer Boudette, have relocated to sunny Florida where they will both be continuing their teaching careers in the arts.  Julie has promised to be a guest teacher at every visit to our area.  Woodwind instructor, Jim Cameron, is currently touring the West Coast and Japan, playing his sax with a jazz band.  Tarryn Brandl has become an entrepreneur, opening a new business with her family.  We are truly grateful for their years of service.

As sad as it was to see them all go, we can't stay sad for long when great new talent has joined our team.  We welcome Dee Kerri, teaching Theatre Jazz; Monica Lessard, instructor in Jazz, Ballet Technique and Modern/Lyrical dance; Lauren Shepard taking on both Ballet and Jazz/Hip-Hop; and Tanya Roberts and Kate Davison bringing Preschool Dance alive for our youngest students.  Lindsay Rinaldi brings a depth of experience and expertise to our voice program and Phillip Allen rounds out our newest faculty members
with a passion for directing and acting.
