BYPC Theatre: Classes

Musical Theatre Productions

BYPC offers a variety of performing opportunities for students of all ages and skill levels. From cabaret to musical revues to Broadway musicals there is something for everyone. Some performances are in-house for our enrolled students while others offer open auditions.

BYPC’s Musical Theatre Productions afford students the opportunity to develop performing skills while building confidence by offering performing opportunities for specific age groups and skill levels. Musical Theatre Productions are offered for students grades 1 – 5, grades 6 – 10, and for grades 9 – 12.

Students enrolled in performance classes, voice classes, and dance classes are invited to participate in BYPC’s year end performance. Performance students also perform at a luncheon theatre in during the fall months. Company and Apprentice perform at BYPC’s Mardi Gras and Gala Performances.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is performed annually at BYPC for students grades 1 – 6. It is a delightful family Christmas musical offering both the perfect entry into performing as well as the cultivation of skills for the returning performer. Auditions are required, however, all interested students are included in our cast. Adult roles are available for high school students.

Performance Class Luncheon Theatre is a fall performance providing performance students the opportunity to apply skills learned in class and to practice performing before an audience.

Musical Theatre Productions grades 1 – 5 is a spring production chosen from the Broadway Junior Collection or comparable works. Auditions are required however, all interested students are included in our cast. Cast members learn choreography, basic harmonies, character development, scene development, and the responsibilities of performing in a musical theatre production.

Musical Theatre Productions grades 6 – 10 is a spring production chosen from an array of Broadway productions. Cast members learn more complex choreography and harmonies reflective of the more intricate works chosen. More in depth character development, scene development, and performing skills are developed. Apprentice Company members are featured in this performance. Auditions are required however, all interested students are included in our cast.

Musical Theatre Productions grades 9 – 12 is the most intense BYPC musical performance. Over the years BYPC has built a reputation of performing professional level musicals. This performance has set the standard. Although all students who audition are cast – this production involved intricate choreography and singing harmonies. In depth character development, scene development, and performing skills are required. Guest choreographers from Broadway and other professional stages will work with the cast.

BYPC Gala Performance highlights the year’s best at BYPC. Company, Apprentice Company, BYPC Company Ensemble, Instrument Ensembles, Group Voice Classes, BYPC Family Chorus, BYPC Graduating Seniors, and BYPC top performers are all invited to perform in May.

Year End Performance caps off the BYPC school year with a performance from each performance, dance, and group voice class.

BYPC Company and Apprentice Company Performances

Company and Apprentice Company members will be provided the opportunity to perform at BYPC’s Mardi Gras with BYPC’s Company Ensemble, at BYPC’s Gala Performance, and in two Broadway musical productions. Our Mardi Gras, Gala, and one musical theatre production are required. Additional performing opportunities may become available.

Company and Apprentice Company members may be invited to perform on location. Past members have performed at Walt Disney World, Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Day Parade, cruise ships, and music festivals as well as local community performances.
